"I’m sticking with it as it’s about inner transformation and fulfilling our potential."
I need to Shift too. I think coaching is the future. As Doc Brown says in Back to the Future, you can do anything if you put your mind to it. But that's the trouble. Too many distractions from mundane washing, cleaning and cooking to the telly! There is always going to be the need for the motivational speaker (if you don't have my speech defects) or the actor, the teacher and the doctor's bedside manner, knowing most of survival is the motivating the patient to do the physiotherapy or eat correctly or exercise to stay healthy.
Yes, career coaching is always popular as food, as is coaching for just about everything. Everybody always needs it for something. They afraid to see, speak, hear, or do anything the first time without a pep talk or somebody to hold their hand! Way to go. I can't or won't do anything properly without help from someone. I had to have half an hour one-on-one coaching once a week back at the swimming pool in 2008 for nearly a year to learn to swim strokes properly (I could only do doggie paddle before and couldn't learn it from a swimming manual by myself!). It's expensive, but it's vital.
Good for you. We can self-coach too, but it's super helpful and inspiring to hear someone else's perspective and story and it can move you forward faster. And having accountability and setting deadlines - the way forward! Otherwise we procrastinate, tweak, edit and get caught up in the perfectionism trap!
Exciting thing about digital publishing is that nothing is set in stone - you can experiment, try things, get feedback, & change things. Social media is a big distraction so I'm being mindful/intentional around the time I spend there and focusing on one platform this year - LinkedIn. I'd rather have deeper conversations that lead to collaborations.
Hi Nika, thank you for your help via The Shift, which is a pep talk for motivation (I need much more motivation!). Wish you'd also put up videos too, since you're great. And just after I read your post above, I checked my email and had an email from America. Marilyn Nave, Peter Kuran's assistant at Visual Concepts Entertainment: "The [Neutron Bomb] movie's website needs fleshing out, perhaps with some history or other information. You’re probably the only person who could help us". Crazy! But it feels super nice to be needed by someone for once (not just to wash, clean, and cook all the time!). Kind regards, Nige
Wow, that's fabulous news - definitely follow that one up :) Yes, I can relate to that - parenting, teenagers and domestics! I may do videos at some point but it's time-intensive and so focused on the newsletter for now.
