Most of what I do here is free to read and open to everyone. I'm not a fan of paywalls. I find them irritating and a bit old-fashioned. Also, paywalling posts on Substack blocks the comments, which is not what I want as I’m trying to build a supportive community here.
A network of newsletter pals, peers and cheerleaders on your writing journey. Collective energy!
Those who become paid supporters are helping me keep going and growing. You're buying me a block of writing/thinking time and enabling me to do some mentoring work via The Girls' Network. Massive thanks!
You also get community benefits:
A weekly 'Office Hours' chat every Monday from 10-12 pm BST. I'll be HERE with a coffee in hand - ask me anything! Or pop by and say hi. It's a social start to the week, and chatting with folks lifts my spirits.
The Shift Ideas Jam/Writing Hour - a monthly brainstorming/intel session followed by a silent writing or reading hour. A cosy, supportive space for writers & creators who want to grow together (and earn more) on Substack and beyond.
Constraints help boost creativity in many ways, e.g. I like doing the Pomodoro for 45 mins then a 15-min break as it gives shape to the day when I’m working solo. Having some structured time and 'body doubling' with others doing the same thing also gives me energy and helps me progress on projects.
An opportunity to share what you're working on - books, newsletters, articles, socials and more, make an ask or offer, and celebrate getting stuff done! I need to get better at that before I move on to the next TeuxDeux…
What: The Shift Ideas Jam / Writing Hour
When: Thursday, 26 September, 3-4.30 pm BST (repeats on the last Thurs/mo). 30-mins chat followed by an hour of co-working.
Where: Save this Zoom link
It's a monthly event for now, but I'll host it more often, if it’s helpful. See how we go.
If you'd like to join us, all you have to do is upgrade to paid and keep an eye on your inbox/chat for updates.
Hope to see you tomorrow.
Nika :)
📍I've created a new page on my nav bar, which lists all the community magic and links in one place.
PS RIP Studyverse! I miss my cosy library space. I’m still looking for a replacement room I can invite folks to join. I’ve tried LifeAt but it’s not got the same cute, retro vibes and you have to upgrade to do video calls. If you have any recs let me know - there are a few folks asking on r/GetStudying.
