‘the magic happens in person. And life is better with the sun on your face, a bowl of olives and a Negroni in hand.’ Yes! Absolutely. Loved this Nika - and great to find you thanks to Amy!
So much cool stuff. Travel Maps Australia, what happened to it?! Plus Foxtel! And then you’re NUJ campaigning and more. Not gonna lie it did take me back to shifting my first time round in London, which was exhausting. But a bedsit was only £40?! That’s like a coffee now! So important too that we’re honest about how it’s not easy for others. Can’t wait to see what you do next (but hope it involves YHA?!)
TMA - need to look it up! It was an A5 print mag. Guy called Nick who lived in Scarborough? Posh bit of Perth anyway.
Bedsit 1 in Maidstone was £40/wk i know. Seemed like a lot back then though as wasn't earning much. Upgraded to Bedsit 2 at £50/wk in the landlord's house. Moved out after he tried it on with me - sat there naked in the dark waiting for me!!
Thanks hun. Good to do it - brings you back to centre. Something to share for interviews and pods etc. Though I can’t be writing posts this long every week 😂 Thanks for the share.
Amy - short and sweet - quick drink in a cosy pub in TW. She’s great company. Did an excellent free workshop this week on becoming a media magnet.
You’re so persistent, with drive and stamina to keep on the move. I do hope your diverse ideas will maximise your creative opportunities. It certainly doesn’t sound like a picnic! Admiration too for supporting your daughter and her Uni career! 👌🏽
Haha the realities but not a pity party! I'm a glass half full person. I keep banging on about entrepreneurship and newsletters so hopefully some of it sinks in. She has a LinkedIn account ;-)
You’ve a positive drive! Your daughter and her friends may be ideal people to interview for an article on their view of entrepreneurship too! Thought about a book ? Celebrities seem to do well out of it (annoyingly)💕🤸🏾
Yes I'd love to interview her and her mates - have suggested it (cringe = mother) but in time she might be up for it. If I write more books, it'll be different this time - maybe self-publishing. Think non-fiction biz books have been overtaken by Substack et al.
Such candor, Nika - I truly wish I was as analytical. I have time and opportunity but no forward motivation. I’ve just completed my first novel - only took a decade! - and will be pursuing other editorial ideas. Thankfully, I need no income now; ideas are free.
Well done. What's it about? Are you self-publishing? It's Novel November so quite a bit going on in-person and online. https://luma.com/WritersCafe. If I'm feeling flat or uninspired it's time to get offline and read more. Not reading enough fiction atm.

Thanks Tom and for the sign up and share. I'm manifesting the Italian villa :) 🍹
BTW you haven't said where your dressing gown is from? Extra material = Extra Dressing Gown.

Great piece Nika. Really appreciated your honesty and a better feel for your story. How was yours and Amy's get together this week? A x

I saw. I was in the depths of trick or treat. You're both fab.

Very thoughtful! I’m sure you’ve inspired her! The university also should have some avenues. Good luck!!🤞🏽

Hello Nika! "Getting to know you" but not quite King And I style. Ace column. Fraternals bests, Phil
Haha, just thinking Andy needs a new story. Thanks for all your support over the years with my various ventures X
