🌐 HNY and a walk around Southwell
New Year meditations from Melody Beattie

HNY from the Chapel House, Southwell Minster - beautiful carvings and “the finest example of naturalistic carving in the UK” – maple, oak and hawthorn. Took some pics.
Lit a candle and said a prayer for my mum who’s been in hospital and struggling with health issues. And for all the things I would like to have happen in my life this year.
I find it so grounding here. Open every day for prayer and reflection since 1108. 🙏
Wishing you a joyful, expansive 2026 and a big thank you for reading, supporting, and sharing my work. It is much appreciated.
A little meditation from Melody Beattie’s The Language of Letting Go. Scroll to ‘About the author’ and you’ll see an excerpt for Jan 1-3 - good to journal on.
Lovely to have this read to me by sister Sam last night.

Project Hastings
Something new for 2026 - a year of walking my way to stories. My little corner of the world (Hastings & St Leonards) is getting up to £20m regeneration funding over the next decade to improve local neighbourhoods and create work opps.
I’m curious to see what changes (or not!) and will be recording it here (short texts, picts, vlogs).
The Bayeux Tapestry, which depicts the Battle of Hastings, is set to return to the UK on loan after 900 years - see it at the British Museum this autumn.
