🍉 Honouring Gazan journalists
Be opposite Downing St at 5.30 pm (or join us online) + a human project. [#200]
Hiya, hope you’re well.
I wanted to invite you along to this tonight – Honouring Gazan journalists – part of 48 hours of solidarity action by the NUJ and sister unions around the world in support of journalists in Gaza. ALL journos and media workers welcome.
We’ll read out the names of those killed and celebrate the bravery of colleagues who continue to report knowing they might be killed at any moment. Sunday’s double strike on Nasser Hospital, killing five journalists, brings our count of colleagues killed in Gaza to 222 – plus 2 in the West Bank, 4 in Israel, 9 in Lebanon, 1 in Syria and 3 in Iran.
We’ll also hear a recorded message from
Gazan reporter Wael Al Dahouh. of the Gazan ‘We Are Not Numbers’ project, will speak, along with presenter .This coming together follows the handing in of a letter setting out demands and questions to 10 Downing St at 4 pm.
Please join us when you can. Please share widely. 🙏
If you can’t make it in person join us online. People will be filming it and I’ll be sharing live updates on X here.
Here’s the Instagram account of Mariam Abu Daka, who was killed by the Israeli army for documenting its terror and crimes in Gaza. Her last post was published an hour before she was killed.
She was also a talented photographer.
at Proximities has shared some of her photos.I’m going to order a copy of WANN: The Voices of Gaza’s Youth - a human project.
